Prior to the inauguarl 2017-2018 season, Las Vegas’ NHL expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights, opened a new state of the art practice facility. Located in the master-planned mixed-use community of Downtown Summerlin, this 120,000 square foot complex has been designed to engage the local community and will include two full sheets of ice, serving not only the NHL team, but also local youth and adult leagues and figure skaters.
In addition to the two ice rinks, the two-story facility also includes training rooms, team offices, locker rooms, a pro shop, and concessions. There will be stadium-style seating for 600 people and skate rental will be available to the public. A second floor restaurant will offer visitors a place to relax with views of both ice rinks.
The building shell construction consists of a pre-engineered metal building supported clad with light-gauge stud framing and CMU. The second floor areas are cast-in-place mild-reinforced concrete slabs supported by concrete columns and CMU bearing walls.
Construction for this project started in 2016 and was completed in 2017. The approximate construction cost was $24 Million (USD).
