The Allegiant Stadium was a remarkable engineering achievement that combines cutting-edge technology with sustainability and comfort to provide a world-class experience for fans and players alike. The stadium has a total of 1.75 million sqft with seating capacity of 65,000 and expandable seating for up to 72,000 for special events. This state-of-the-art facility was designed and engineered to withstand extreme weather conditions and provide an enjoyable and safe experience for fans. The stadium design also features a retractable natural turf field that can be moved in and out of the stadium for maintenance and events. The field sits on a tray that is supported by 13 rails and can be moved in and out of the stadium in just under two hours.
Lochsa Engineering’s role was to provide engineering for the support framing to the exterior façade in several locations and the structural connection to the shell of the structure. The main area of our scope was the design and detailing of all structural framing for the press/luxury boxes, concessions, miscellaneous concourse elements, specialty seating locations, etc., and how they are connected/integrated with the entire stadium facility and the day-to-day operations. Each area of these amenities required specific design and detailing of ornate/complex ceilings and soffits. The stair and elevator enclosures were another part of our scope that required specialized design to provide movement joints between primary and secondary structures while still functioning for the ingress/egress of the occupants.
The stadium is home to the newly relocated Las Vegas Raiders, as well as the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels.
