LOCHSA ENGINEERING WINS FIRST PLACE 2024 CFSEI DESIGN EXCELLENCE AWARD

Lochsa Engineering won the 1st Place CFSEI 2024 Design Excellence award for The (W)rapper. The (W)rapper Building's unique design show cases the advanced engineering skills and innovative solutions required to bring such a groundbreaking project to life. Standing 235 feet tall with 7 stories dedicated to fostering creativity and innovation. Lochsa provided CFS/Steel engineering for both the interior and exterior framing of the building. This work included designing complex CFS trusses, stairs, and tower elevations that matched the architectural theme of The (W)rapper. Unique angles and corner conditions were incorporated into the design to create a distinctive aesthetic, requiring specialized engineering solutions.

The challenging design included windows wrapping around corners with varying angles, as well as cantilevered structures to support the window systems. Finite Element Software was essential for accurately modeling these complex design elements, as traditional methods were not sufficient. The use of CFS framing proved crucial in ensuring the structural integrity, fire resistance, and deflection requirements were met effectively.
